Health
care reforms in Poland have not had a beneficial impact on everyone.
Children, the elderly, the handicapped and terminally ill still
face a bleak future. The lack of proper medical diagnostic equipment
complicates illness and treatment. In addition to providing
urgently needed medical supplies, the PACCF has received
from publishers the latest texts and medical manuals and donated
them to medical academies to train the next generation of doctors
and health care providers. Contributions are needed to help
leukemia patients with life-saving drugs, heart patients with
medications and those needing rehabilitation with much needed
equipment. Our assistance is greatly needed if Poland's people
are to benefit from the kind of health care that is needed to
live better, longer and more productive lives. The Polish American
Congress Charitable Foundations' Priority is to upgrade services...particuraly
for groups that are vulnerable during economic transition the
children, the elderly, the handicapped and the disabled.
